US Environmental Protection Agency registration

Antimicrobial Copper is the only solid antimicrobial touch surface material to have its scientific efficacy data independently verified and approved by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), as a result of rigorous testing under three EPA-approved protocols developed to test copper’s antimicrobial ability. EPA maintains a public health registration acknowledging the efficacy of 335 antimicrobial copper alloys against six disease-causing bacteria (E.coli O157:H7, MRSA, Staphylococcus aureus, VRE, Enterobacter aero genes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa). The EPA registration of copper means that it is the only touch surface material that can be marketed with an EPA approved public health claim that it can continuously kill more than 99.9% of the bacteria, viruses, fungi and moulds causing HCAIs, within two hours of contact, when cleaned regularly and only as a supplement to routine cleaning and disinfection programmes.
